Lacrosse Camp Staff

Hi Lorne,

I just wanted to pass on how much my son, Tommy enjoyed the camp this past week. He is already planning on next year! He was especially complimentary about all of the coaches. Picking up all of the boys at the airport last night at 11:00 was fun — they were tired but all had big smiles on their faces. Tommy has done a number of camps, but I have to say this is by far his favorite.

Thanks for everything,
Cindy Hanrahan

Lorne hand picks all staff members for their lacrosse background, work ethic, and most importantly for their ability to motivate, inspire, and work well with kids. Many coaches come back year after year, so chances are if you are a returning camper you will recognize some faces.

Danny Ernst (UO Alum, Portland Lumberjax, Lacrosse NorthWest) and a large contingent of UO players will play significant roles in staffing the Oregon camp. Lorne will personally direct all 2008 camps, being present at all times to make sure things are being run the right way. As a staff we take a proactive approach to teaching the game on a team and individual level.

Specific situations and concepts are introduced and analyzed by the staff in front of the entire camp, and then within each division during drill work and games coaches teach more on the individual level, taking players aside to do 1v1 instruction when needed.

Lorne Smith Lax Camp

Typically the staff at a Lorne Smith camp includes current college players and coaches, high school coaches, and occasionally a few friends from the MLL. In the past this has included Wes Green (LA Riptide), DJ Driscoll (LA Riptide), and Jesse Hubbard (NJ Pride). This summer we are pleased to welcome guest coach Jeff Sonke from the Denver Outlaws, who will be present for one day at each camp. Jeff also will be showing off some of Warrior’s newest apparel designs at each camp to get some feedback from you guys to see what you like.

Camper to coach ratio is excellent at 8:1, and these same coaches live in the dorms at overnight camps to provide 24 hour dorm supervision.
